Within a short driving distance from Les Quatre Pins, these are just a few of the wonderful places to visit, depending on the length of your stay, there are many more pretty villages to explore.
SARLAT is by far the most important tourist site in the region. Visitors come to discover the secrets of this medieval jewel with its honey-coloured buildings with twisted towers, turrets and gables, alleyways and courtyards, its excellent market, art galleries, exhibitions and street entertainment of all kinds.
DOMME is a captivating bastide town with its old white stone houses with their brown tile roofs and flowering balconies standing on a towering hill with panoramic views overlooking the peaceful meandering river Dordogne.
LA ROQUE GAGEAC nestles at the foot of tall cliffs, with its honey-coloured houses and its pretty river frontage.From La Roque Gageac you can take a trip aboard a gabare, which is a replica of an 18th century boat and discover five of the most beautiful chateaux in the valley of the Dordogne.
BEYNAC is a delight to visit, meander through its ancient little streets and tiny squares, up past the castle walls to the medieval chapel, where there is a superb panorama over the valley. The castle of Beynac is one of the most impressive fortresses in the region.
CASTELNAUD castle appears to rise up out of the medieval village, which is nestled on the slopes of the hill, the castle houses an unrivalled collection of weapons and armour.
CHATEAU DES MILANDS, the former home of Josephine Baker the international singer star who founded her 'world village' for abandoned children. During your visit you will discover ornamental gardens and a Falconry show.
LES JARDINS DE MARQUEYSSAC, the romantic and Picturesque gardens offer more than six kilometres of shaded paths bordered by 15000 hand pruned box-trees a hundred years old. You can walk along the paths to the Belvedere, a 130 metres above the river, gives an exceptional view of the Dordogne valley with its castles, river and woodland.
PREHISTORIC SITES
Drive through beautiful countryside and visit some of the most important prehistoric sites in France, the famous cave paintings of Lascaux or visit the prehistoric musuem at Les Eyzies and the spectacular caves in the surrounding area, Font-de-Gaume, Les Combarelles and the Grand Roc.

ROCAMADOUR, this spectacular village is dramatically sited on a steep rock-face in the gorge of the Alzou. The village consists of a single medieval street at the foot of a precipitous limestone cliff and dominated by a 14th century castle. Between the village and the castle lies the religious heart of Rocamadour, the shrines, chapels and basilicas.
SAINT CIRQ LAPOPIE, the village is perched on a cliff above the river and is one of the major beauty spots of the Lot valley, the cobbled village streets still have many old houses whose stone or half-timbered frontages date back to the 13th-16th centuries. Now its old houses have been taken over by artists and crafts people attracted by the exceptional beauty of the village and its setting.
